Gainey's son joins Blazers
The Kamloops Blazers today announce the hiring of Steve Gainey as an Assistant Coach for the 2007-08 WHL season. Gainey, a 28-year-old Blazer alumnus who calls Kamloops home, joins Andrew Milne and Shane Zulyniak as assistants to Dean Clark.
After a four-year career with the Blazers from 1995 to 1999, Gainey played six seasons of professional hockey in the IHL and AHL with the Kalamazoo K-Wings, Utah Grizzlies, Philadelphia Phantoms, and the San Antonio Rampage and has 30 games of NHL experience with the Dallas Stars and Phoenix Coyotes.
He should be a nice fit in Kamloops.

I'm pretty sure sucking was the big factor.
If you are 28 and haven't cracked an NHL lineup yet, it is definitely time to find yourself a real career before you end up riding a bus through rural Texas while playing for the Austin Ice Bats. It's a good move for young Gainey to get rolling on his post-playing days career.
