The University of British Columbia Thunderbirds are hoping they can set a CIS record for attendance this weekend as part of Hockey Day in Canada, a night the university club will take over GM Place.

A sportswriter at The Globe and Mail, James covers the NHL and the game of hockey. Wow, sad to say I hadn't heard of it yet.
Not a chance I figure.
But maybe I'm underestimating Vancouverites.
Here's hoping they do... anything that gets positive publicity for the CIS, I'm all for.
(Ottawa U and Carleton's basketball teams are playing at Scotiabank on the 23rd... more than 6,000 tickets sold already I'm told.)
